The stakes for UFC 315 just got a whole lot bigger.
If Belal Muhammad wins tomorrow, it seems we’ll officially get Ilia Topuria vs. Islam Makhachev on June 28th during International Fight Week at UFC 317. As strange as it may sound, that gives fans a real reason to root for Belal — even those who usually don’t.
But if Jack Della Maddalena pulls off the win, everything changes.
In that case, Islam Makhachev will vacate his lightweight title and move up to welterweight — doing what many fans waited years for Khabib to do but never saw. That would leave the vacant lightweight belt on the line for Topuria vs. Charles Oliveira at UFC 317 instead.
The most mind-blowing part? We’re less than two months away — which means Islam, Topuria, and Oliveira are all already deep into their training camps, even if the matchups are still uncertain.
Whichever way it goes, fans win.

Sure, Topuria vs. Makhachev is the dream matchup everyone’s waiting for. But Makhachev vs. Jack Della Maddalena might be just as massive. If Jack can neutralize Belal’s wrestling, he could even go into the Makhachev fight as a favorite — and that makes things very, very interesting.
The only one potentially left out? Charles Oliveira. If Belal wins and we get Islam vs. Topuria, that might mean no title shot for Charles — at least not yet.
But either way, the UFC is finally heating up again. No slowdown. No downtrend. Just straight fire ahead. 🔥
