UFC 311
Islam Makhachev absolutely dominated Renato Moicano at UFC 311. Aside from some early adversity on the feet, Makhachev was in control, using his wrestling to take Moicano down and keep him grounded.
Despite Moicano’s reputation for being tough and scrappy, Makhachev’s grappling was just too much. He secured a first-round submission with a slick D’Arce choke, making it look easy.
It was another statement win for Makhachev, showcasing why he’s considered one of the best lightweights in UFC history. Moicano tried valiantly, but Makhachev is just on another level right now.
The big win for Makhachev not only made a statement, but it also forever etched his name into the UFC history books.

Chasing Records:
- Longest UFC Winning Streak:
-
-
Makhachev has extended his current UFC winning streak to 15 fights, putting him in striking distance of Anderson Silva’s record of 16 consecutive wins. Jon Jones holds the top spot with 20 wins, but his record includes a no-contest, which complicates comparisons. If Makhachev can maintain his winning form, he’s on track to challenge this long-standing record.
-
- #1 Pound-for-Pound Rank:
-
-
While not a formal “record,” Makhachev’s consistent performances, particularly his latest title defense, have solidified his claim as the top pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC. Even Dana White agrees with this sentiment, officially giving Makhachev the nod over Jon Jones.
