One month removed from the UFC 307 main event and Khalil Rountree shows battle scars after his war with Alex Pereira. It was an action-packed night for sure, with the controversial contender suffering a fourth round TKO to the light heavyweight champion.

Khalil Rountree Show Battle Scars after his war with Alex Pereira

UFC 307 took place in Salt Lake City on October the 5th. Khalil was unfortunately on the end of a devastating defeat to Alex Pereria, a man who many UFC betting fans are now proclaiming to be a favorite for the number one spot on the pound for pound list.

The fight was highly competitive in the early rounds, with some even favoring the light heavyweight contender Khalil Rountree. But, as the fight progressed into deeper and deeper waters the championship spirit of Alex Pereira began to overwhelm Khalil. Despite this there was a tremendous amount of heart and spirit on display from the contender, which made for one of the best UFC fights of the year. It was unquestionably my favorite for the year, but everyone has their own.

However, Khalil’s no quit attitude led to him taking a huge amount of damage, particularly around his nose and eyes. In the third and fourth rounds before Alex closed the show with a nasty TKO there was a huge amount of blood, bruising and damage around Khalil’s face. An unfortunate reality of the sport we love so much. As we’re now just over a month on from this huge event, the damage has begun to clear up but Khalil has been left with some real war scars from the UFC 307 showdown.

What’s next for Khalil Rountree?

After taking so much damage during the fight, I knew we wouldn’t be expecting to see Khalil stepping back into the Octagon any time soon. That has since been confirmed by the man himself. He recently updated fans on various social media platforms, showing off his battle scars. Additionally, Khalil had to have an operation on his nose to help address many of the facial injuries sustained during the fight.

But, with the fighter very much on the mend (albeit with some nasty scars) I hope we will be seeing him back on a UFC card around the middle of 2025 or potentially late 2025. This will give the fighter plenty of time to rest, recuperate and get back to doing what he does best. Plus, for the next few weeks Khalil is expected to be away on vacation, enjoying some well-earned family time. Which is great to see!

Is Alex Pereira still healthy?

It goes without saying that Alex Pereira is fortunately in a much better position than his opponent. However, Alex had recently come out to say that he was still experiencing a lot of pain in his hands. This is a testament to how much heart Khalil showed on the night, he reminded me of a zombie, constantly getting up and fighting back. Everyone that you could dream of in a championship fight!

But, with no major injuries I’d expect to see Alex back to action fairly soon. Plus, he’s one of the most active champions right now. While there’s nothing on the books officially, I can’t wait to see who he faces next. There was a recent rumor that he could be on the UFC 310 card, after welterweight champion Belal Muhammed pulled out from the event. But that was later revealed to not be possible.

Final thoughts on Khalil Rountree’s battle scars from UFC 307

If there is one thing I learnt from UFC 307, it’s how much of a fighter Khalil Rountree is. A lot of the MMA community (myself included) didn’t know too much about Khalil, he was considered a major underdog, and rightfully so. But, his performance was admirable, especially in the early rounds when he was winning many of the exchanges. Ultimately, Alex Pereria was just too fast, powerful and precise, which has been the story of so many of his fights. But, Khalil has certainly gained many fans and I’m super excited to see where he goes next – I’ll definitely be watching!
