UFC 317 Pull-Out
Dumas stepped up on two-weeks notice to take on UFC debuting Jackson McVey at UFC 317. Just days before the event was supposed to go down, it was announced that Dumas was pulled from the card, ultimately leading to McVey not fighting on the card.
Rumors circulated online that Dumas couldn’t make the trip to Las Vegas due to him not being granted permission by a court judge to remove his ankle monitor in time from a recent arrest. After speaking with Dumas, it seems this story is a reality.
“We just couldn’t get it (ankle monitor) off in time,” said Dumas.
After requesting to a court judge that his ankle monitor be removed so he could travel for work, it seems timing was the real issue rather than legal restrictions. On only two weeks notice, the Escambia County judge told Dumas it wouldn’t be possible to file an appeal in such a short amount of time.
According to Dumas, once they notified the UFC of his travel issues, he was immediately pulled from the card. A replacement fight was scheduled for McVey, but also fell through due to a massive weight discrepancy.
Sedriques Dumas Recent Arrest
An April 28th, 2025, Dumas was booked by the Escambia County Sherifff’s Department on 5 criminal charges ranging from home invasion to possession of a weapon.
The arrest report states the alleged victim is Dumas’ ex-girlfriend. According to the report, the victim said she was on her back porch when Dumas entered her home without permission by walking in her front door.
She told officers Dumas threw the back door open in an aggressive manner, walked up to her and took her phone out of her hand. He then forcibly entered the home where the victim followed.
Once inside, the victim said Dumas forcefully tried to take a ring off her finger. He then allegedly “threw her around the room and into a large wooden vase.” Deputies observed scratches and bruises on the victim’s leg and arm, as well as scratch marks on her fingers.
Dumas then allegedly grabbed a $400 necklace off the victim’s neck, then left home with her stolen phone and necklace in his possession. He reportedly returned about a minute later and threw her phone in the front yard.
Deputies later located Dumas at a different home, allegedly hiding in a dog crate in a shed.
Deputies searched Dumas’ vehicle and found 51 grams of marijuana and a gun, along with a broken piece of necklace on the floorboard.

Sedriques Dumas’ Side of the Story
Despite being in an ongoing court case, Dumas had plenty to say to Home of Fight regarding his arrest. According to him, there is much more to this story than stated on the police report.
“Apparently, they say that I did all of this treacherous stuff,” Dumas explains. “I’m going to leave it up to the courts and the justice system and Allah because everybody knows the truth.”
“At the end of the day an officer can write up a report however he wants to write it up,” says Dumas. “The shit they are trying to prosecute me for is false.”
When asked for clarity about allegedly being found in a dog crate by arresting officers, Dumas defensively fired back: “That’s the most funniest shit. That’s what you wanna call a dog crate? A shelter, or a house, or a habitat house, we wanna call that a dog crate?”
When asked for further clarification, Dumas responded, “I guess I was in a dog crate then man, guess so. Can’t always believe what’s written on a piece of paper.”
Obviously Dumas has to plead his case and can’t incriminate himself, but the lack of accountability was truly astonishing. Especially considering his 14 criminal cases dating back to 2014 in Escambia county.
“Innocent until guilty right? A person could go to jail 4, 5, 6, 7 many times. That doesn’t always mean he did it,” explains Dumas. “That means some BS happened and guess what? He got off the hook cause he took it to trial and standing on business.”
Dumas further alludes to his innocence by saying, “Don’t nobody go to jail that many times and don’t go to prison. I know a lot of people pray on my downfall, but I’m not gonna give it to y’all!”

What’s Next for Sedriques Dumas?
After this recent arrest, many fans & media members are calling for the release of Dumas from the UFC. With multiple repeat felony offenses and ruining an entire fight on a massive UFC PPV, it would seem likely that Dumas won’t fight in the UFC again. However, stranger things have happened and questionable characters continue to fight in the UFC.
Dumas is very confident that this arrest won’t stall his UFC career, stating he wants to fight again as soon as possible. Dumas believes with ample notice, his ankle monitor will no longer be an issue and can get removed in time for his next fight.
While not taking much accountability for his recent crimes, Dumas does acknowledge that he might need to change some of his ways to stay out of trouble in the future.
“People around me are already cut off,” Dumas explains. “If they’re not going to understand that I’m a professional, then I can’t fuck with them even if we have 10, 7, 9, 4, 5, however years plus of being friends. I gotta dictate my career in the right way. Ya this bullshit happened, but it’s about what you do afterwards.”
Dumas elaborates by saying, “I got a lot of shit to prove. Statistics, I got a job, and I’m here to say. Going to jail’s never been on my to-do list. I don’t encourage anybody to go to jail, I don’t encourage anybody to smoke weed, I don’t encourage anybody to do some dumb shit that’s going to land them in jail.”
Dumas undoubtedly wants to have a successful UFC career, but he seems to keep getting in his own way. It will be interesting to see if this most recent arrest was finally the final straw for Dumas and if he will truly change his ways to stay out of future trouble, for the first time in a long time.
“I never planned on going to jail, I never planned on any of this.” says Dumas. “Just matters what I do going forward. All I care about is UFC. I’m dedicated going forward.”
While not much remains clear about the actual circumstances surrounding the arrest, it is certain that the ankle monitor was the main reason Dumas couldn’t compete on UFC 317. Hopefully fans can get some more clarity on both Dumas’s legal situation and his future in the UFC as the court case continues to progress.
