Makhachev v Moicano | UFC
UFC 311 Main Event Mix-Up
After some unexpected last-minute news, the UFC has announced that Arman Tsarukyan has pulled OUT of his UFC 311 title fight against Islam Makhachev on the day of weigh-ins.
Dana White says:
“Around 1am last night, we got a call from Arman Tsarukyan and he let us know that he was experiencing significant back pain and felt that he was not healthy enough to compete. So he’s OUT of the fight.”
Many fans were looking forward to the highly anticipated rematch between Makhachev & Tsarukyan, but the UFC more than made up for the last-minute cancellation with an amazing replacement fight.

Time to Make Money
Stepping in to take on Makhachev is Renato Moicano! Currently #10 in the LW rankings and scheduled to fight Beneil Dariush at UFC 311, Moicano is the perfect replacement for Tsarukyan.
Stylistically, Moicano presents a lot of problems for the grappling attacks from Makhachev. Although Moicano comes in as a +600 underdog, this fight is much closer than the oddsmakers are claiming it to be.
Anytime a fighter has “nothing to lose”, they immediately become more dangerous. While fans, Vegas, and critics alike may be counting Moicano out before the fight even begins, a perfect recipe for Moicano to shock the world is brewing.
Moicano said he would like to fight for the title before 2025 is over. He is certainly getting his wish much sooner than anticipated. A win over Makhachev would instantaneously elevate Moicano into the “best LWs to ever fight” conversation and would forever cement his legacy as a UFC champion.

Left in the Dust
With Moicano moving to the main event, his original opponent Beneil Dariush is now left without a fight. It is CONFIRMED that Dariush will not be fighting at UFC 311.
Per usual, anytime a fighter has to bite the proverbial “bullet” for the promotion, Dana White has promised to treat Dariush accordingly:
“The UFC will take care of Beneil Dariush. We will sort out his situation soon.”
Expect Dariush to get a pretty pay day along with his show money. Hopefully a fight will be announced soon for Dariush so he can remain active like he had planned to at UFC 311.
Certainly a bummer that both Arman Tsarukyan and Beneil Dariush are OFF the card, but thankfully there is still an incredible main event to keep fans entertained.
