🏆 5 Things You Should Know About UFC 315

UFC 315 might not be stacked with blockbuster names, but it’s full of hidden gems and fascinating backstories. Here are five things that make this card worth your attention:

1. Jack Della Maddalena? Not quite.

The man fighting for the UFC title isn’t technically Jack — it’s Giacomo Della Maddalena. That’s his real first name, inherited from his Italian grandfather. But “Jack” is the Aussie-friendly version he chose to go by — and it stuck.

2. Belal Muhammad didn’t grow up poor.

Contrary to the stereotype that fighting is a “poor man’s sport,” Belal’s background is different. His father owned a cellphone store in Chicago, and Belal studied law at an Illinois university. In 2020, during the BLM protests, his father’s store — which had operated for 15 years — was destroyed by rioters.

3. Valentina Shevchenko’s insane longevity.

She won her first major title — a Muay Thai world championship — back in 2003. It’s now 2025, and she’s still the reigning UFC champion. That’s 22 years at the elite level. GOAT status? Very possible.

4. Kyle Prepolec’s second shot at the big leagues.

The 35-year-old Canadian coach was cut from the UFC in 2019 after going 0-2. Now, he’s back — stepping in on just 3 days’ notice to face Benoît Saint-Denis. For Kyle, this is the opportunity of a lifetime.

5. Manon Fiorot — from snowboards to knockouts.

Before MMA, she was a French national champion in snowboarding. At 18, she returned to her childhood passion: karate. She made the national team but missed the world championships due to injury. Instead, she became a 3-time K-1 French champ — and now, one of the toughest stylistic challenges Valentina Shevchenko has faced in years.

UFC 315 isn’t the flashiest card of the year, but if you weren’t interested before — hopefully now you’re at least 5% more hyped.
