UFC 310: Pantoja vs Asakura

  • Where to Watch: PPV & ESPN+
  • Start Time: Early Prelims – 6pm EST | Prelims – 8pm EST | Main Card – 10pm EST
  • Date: Saturday, December 7th 2024

The final UFC PPV of the year closes out an incredible 2024 in MMA as the promotion returns to the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada for UFC 310 on Saturday night! The UFC really stacked the card from top to bottom leaving little room for bathroom breaks during the event. Strap in, get ready, Saturday is going to be an incredible 6-hours of fights.

Main Event

Current flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja looks to successfully defend his title for the third consecutive time. Meanwhile his opponent, Kai Asakura, will do something that very few have done before. Asakura will be the fourth fighter in UFC history to challenge for a title in their promotional debut. Asakura comes from the Japanese promotion, RIZIN, where he built a 13-3 record during his time there. MMA fans across the world have been looking forward to seeing Asakura make his first walk to the UFC octagon. Asakura has a very impressive 21-4 MMA record and if you’ve ever watched him compete in RIZIN, you already know how impressive his striking is. He can finish fights with his punches of course but his two most recent victories are over Juan Archuleta and Yuki Motoya, both by way of knockouts with knees!

Pantoja has found much of his success with his ground game, especially as champion. He’s finished fights on the feet too, but with the elite striking of Asakura, you can expect Pantoja to try and negate this with his elite ground game. Pantoja has shown that he can put the pressure on his opponents and smother them for five rounds. His suffocating grappling style has helped him extensively in both successful title defenses against both Brandon Royval and Steve Erceg. This is a toss-up of a title fight which usually makes for a great fight.

Main Card

In front of this headlining fight, UFC 310’s main card is filled with exciting matchups. Kicking things off, Nate Landwehr will take on ‘The Korean Superboy’ Doo Ho Choi. For both fighters, their last outings consisted of big statement victories by knockout. Lookout for this fight to be absolute fireworks.

Next, Bryce Mitchell will make his return for the first time since suffering a devastating knockout at the hands of Josh Emmett earlier this year. Mitchell will take on Kron Gracie who makes his return after over a year away from competition. When this fight reaches the canvas, you will see some very entertaining scrambles and grappling techniques. This fight features two very high level jiu-jitsu black belts going head-to-head.

Up next, big title implications in the heavyweight division as #2 Ciryl Gane looks to pick up his second straight victory since losing a title fight to current champion Jon Jones. He will be taking on #3 Alexander Volkov. Heavyweight striking is one of the most fun aspects in MMA and in this fight, exciting striking is guaranteed. Just from these two men alone, a combined thirty others have been knocked out. Don’t be surprised if the finish comes early in this fight.

The co-main event consists of two welterweights throwing down as #7 Ian Garry takes on #3 Shavkat Rakhmonov. This will be your classic grappler versus striker matchup. Garry and Rakhmonov both carry perfect records into this fight, meaning someone’s O has got to go! It’s truly a special fight because of how hard these fighters have worked to get to this point. One will likely get an opportunity to challenge for the title while one will suffer their first professional loss. Good luck picking your favorite fight on UFC 310 as there are more than a few to choose from!

BKFC 69

BKFC 69: Richardson vs Larrimore

  • Where to Watch: DAZN & Fubo Sports
  • Start Time: Prelims – 7pm EST | Main Card – 9pm EST
  • Date: Friday, December 6th 2024

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship 69 goes down on Friday night at the Gas South Arena in Atlanta, Georgia! Always an exciting promotion, BKFC 69 is shaping up to be a monumental last card of the year. Plenty of fun fights fill out the card, and the entirety of the event seems to be built around adding excitement to a promotion gearing up for their biggest event ever come January 25th, 2025 as the promotion heads to Philadelphia to sell out the Wells Fargo Center. BKFC 69 is shaping up to be the best appetizer of all time!

Main Event

In the main event of BKFC 69, Keith Richardson will take on Michael Larrimore. Richardson finds himself in a big time main event spot with rather large implications on the line. Richardson began his tenure with BKFC by going 4-0 with four knockouts. For his fourth consecutive win, Richardson knocked out the then-current champion in Reggie Barnett while challenging for the Bantamweight title. Richardson then went on to lost the belt in his first title defense when he was knocked out by the current champion in Alberto Blas.

Richardson’s opponent, Michael Larrimore, looks to completely derail Richardson and comes into this fight with a perfect 2-0 record in BKFC. Larrimore has taken some MMA fights in between his BKFC bouts, going 1-1 between the two fights. With two first round KO’s inside the BKFC ring, Larrimore has put himself in position to be in the talks for a potential title shot if he can get past the former-champion in Keith Richardson. Richardson will be looking to give the powers that be a reason to let him fight for the belt again as he looks to not only bounce back from losing his title, but also to redeem what broke his perfect record since signing to BKFC.

Co-Main Event

Another fight to note on this card is the co-main event between Atlanta’s own Joe Elmore vs Derrick Findley. Expect the crowd in Atlanta to be loud and proud as their hometown hero, Joe Elmore, makes his anticipated return to BKFC. Elmore is a very exciting fighter with some absolute monstrous power in his hands and is guaranteed to bring violence. He goes by the nickname “Hitman” for a reason. Elmore returns after a long layoff and will be very excited to compete in the first BKFC event after the state of Georgia legalized bare-knuckle combat earlier this year.

Findley has been strictly boxing for his entire career and will bring a tough fight to Elmore from his level of experience alone. This is one of those fights where we see a seasoned veteran take on an absolute brawler who’s looking for blood. Will the technique and IQ of Findley help him stay away from those huge, devastating shots from Elmore? Or will the blood-seeking, powerful puncher in Elmore prevail with his violence? We will see on Friday night!

LFA 198

LFA 198: Johns vs Douglas

  • Where to Watch: UFC Fight Pass
  • Start Time: Prelims – 7pm EST | Main Card – 10pm EST
  • Date: Friday, December 6th 2024

Main Event

LFA 198 seems to be a great way for LFA to end the year as the card kicks off on Friday night at The Commerce Casino and Hotel in Commerce, California! The LFA Featherweight Title will be unified by two of the largest prospects in the division. The current champion, Elijah Johns will put his belt on the line against the interim champion in Lerryan Douglas for all the marbles. The winner of this fight will hold a very powerful MMA title and could potentially be the last piece of helping them achieve one of the most sought after things in the sport: a UFC contract.

Johns returns to the LFA cage for his twelfth straight fight with the promotion. He won the title back in February of 2023 at LFA 176 when he beat Alfred Walker who was the champion at that time. Johns has faced some of the toughest competition that LFA has to offer but has had a hard time finding finishes in fights. With seventy-percent of his victories coming via decision, one of the biggest things an opponent needs to be ready for, is John’s gas tank. He has three knockouts in his professional career, but has yet to find his first submission. This fight is very interesting because seventy percent of John’s victories have come by decision while seventy-percent of Douglas’s victories have come by way of finish!

Douglas rides a big three fight win streak with three huge knockouts. Most recently, Douglas knocked out Javier Reyes when the interim-championship was on the line back in August. Douglas has been finding moments to capitalize on in fights and has some very impressive power when he opens up to throw. Before winning the interim title, Douglas fought Nate Ghareeb who gave him a very tough first round. Overcoming early adversity, Douglas found his moment in the second round when he caught Ghareeb, putting him out on his feet with some huge combinations.

This fight between Johns and Douglas is once again one of the biggest fights to make in the division. One of the biggest questions we look forward to seeing answered is: Will Johns be able to weather the storm and utilize his strong gas tank to stay out of range from Douglas’s hands? Or will Douglas be able to get himself into range and once again prove why he’s known as ‘The Gunslinger’?

Feature Fight

Chris Mecate is another fighter to watch on this card. Mecate looks to pick up his fifth straight win and close out 2024 with a perfect 4-0 record on the year. Two of his biggest wins this year include a decision victory over UFC veteran Jay Perrin at Cage Titans and most recently, a huge knock out over Jose Ferreira (12-2) at APFC 13 to claim the featherweight title. Exactly two months after this victory, Mecate will strap up his boots for the final time this year when he takes on Shaheen Santana. There is plenty of excitement to be found in every bout at LFA 198!
