News of the Week
- Renato Moicano vs. Beneil Dariush at UFC 311
Now that the news is official, Renato Moicano sat down with the boys to discuss his recently announced matchup with Beneil Dariush at UFC 311.
After an update on how his training camp is going, Moicano provides a solid breakdown of Dariush’s skills, sharing where he believes he has the advantages. “Money” Moicano also explains the respect he has for Dariush as a human being, but doesn’t shy away from his intentions, saying, “he’s a good role model, but unfortunately for him, I’m going to beat his ass.”
While making a case for big matchups in his weight class, Moicano adds that – should anything happen to Arman Tsarukyan ahead of his title fight with Islam Makhachev at UFC 311 – he believes that he’s the unofficial backup for that fight, stating, “January 18th, if it’s not Dariush, it’s going to be me for the belt and that’s why they’re putting me on this card.”
“I’m not losing to Islam Makhachev,” Moicano continues. “I have the answer for his technique. I know what he’s going to do, it’s just a matter of time.”

- Dustin Jacoby Reveals Pre-Fight Injury & Talks Next Fight
Jacoby joins Gilbert Burns and Matty Betts on the podcast fresh off his third-round knockout win against Vitor Petrino on this past weekend’s UFC Tampa event.
After Matty Betss informs Jacoby that he was listed as a +1200 underdog prior to getting the finish, Jacoby reveals that he practically tore off his big toe in training camp just three weeks before the fight.
“Three weeks ago, I ripped my right big toe completely off,” Jacoby says.
Aside from detailing everything from stitches to sideline time in camp, Jacoby shares how the injury happened, citing Jon Jones‘ fight with Chael Sonnen, saying, “That’s exactly what happened to me in a training session.”
Jacoby also talks about what’s next for him, aiming for a possible return next April for the UFC’s Miami show. After reminding the masses that he’s never pulled out of a bout throughout his 50-fight sample size that spans across MMA and kickboxing, Jacoby reiterates that he doesn’t pick and choose opponents, stating, “I’m gonna let the game come to me.”
That said, Jacoby did acknowledge his history with current UFC light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira, saying, “There’s no bad blood, there’s no big story other than we fought and that it would be cool to see a rematch.”

- Matty Betss Hits on Buckley by TKO/KO/DQ
Following up on his most bullish forecast on last week’s show, Matty Betss cashes big on Joaquin Buckley to win by KO/TKO/DQ, as well as hitting a healthy round 3 prop to finish of the final UFC card of the year.
Matty got Burns and Moicano’s thoughts on Colby Covington’s performance opposite Buckley in the main event, but neither party was particularly impressed. Burns commented on the way that pundits were claiming that Covington was ‘doing good at eating Buckley’s shots,’ saying, “Eating shots doesn’t mean you’re winning the fight.”
After explaining why they all agreed on the doctor stoppage in the main event, Matty gives Moicano some crap for campaigning for Drakkar Klose as a live underdog following Klose’s devastating loss to rising lightweight phenom, Joel Alvarez.
SHOW ME THE FUNNY
- Gilbert Burns vs Chael Sonnen
When Renato Moicano says that a post is ‘the funniest thing he’s seen in his life,’ then there’s no way that that’s not making our “Show Me The Funny” section of the recap.
After spreading some fake news about a Gilbert Burns retirement on his show, Chael Sonnen ended up starting a hilarious chain of events.
Burns, who was initially okay with the random bout of misinformation, quickly changed his tune after his phone was subsequently flooded with “congratulations on an amazing career” messages. In retaliation, Burns took to social media to both set the record straight, as well as get back at Sonnen by posting his personal telephone number for all the public to see.
Sonnen, who took it with his usual swagger and stride, parlayed the prank into a content opportunity as he recorded himself answering the subsequent phone calls from the gen pop.
Thankfully, both Burns and Sonnen apologized to each other privately via text message, but “Durinho” still isn’t sure why Sonnen was stirring the pot. Burns speculated that Sonnen was just trying to build up a potential fight between himself and Covington, which is a fight that arguably makes a lot of sense to put together.
